About Us

Our Name

Curious about where the name Meirzah comes from? It actually originates from a story that is still being written, of both tragedy and new hope. On August 6, 2020, we lost both of our female Golden Retrievers in a fire that destroyed our entire home.  Both of these precious girls were being raised not only as our best friends, but also in hopes of starting a responsible breeding program with. We loved both of these girls with all our hearts and their loss has made a huge impact on us, as well as my friends in the Golden Retriever breeder community. Our "kennel name" comes from a combination of both of their names; Meira and Zahavah. Meira (means "one who illuminates" in Hebrew) was 17 months old, and Zahavah (means "golden" in Hebrew) was 23 months old, when they crossed the Rainbow Bridge.  My hope is that the names of these two special girls will be honored for decades to come.

Our Beginning

I have been owned by Golden Retrievers for over 30 years, but it wasn't until around October 2018, that my true interest in becoming a breeder began, so I joined many Golden Retriever Facebook groups including some specific to breeders. I made a point to develop relationships with many Golden Retriever breeders and enthusiasts, so that I could begin to learn all that I possibly can. There are several great breeders that I consider wonderful mentors and friends.

On April 6th, 2021, I was graciously gifted a show prospect female from Valor Goldens, so that we may not only have another companion, but to also continue my dream. We named this special girl ADARA, in which is similar to "princess" in Hebrew. Some sources say that ADARA, also means "noble".  With this gorgeous girl, my passion for conformation dog shows began. When Adara, was 3 months old, I began training with her at our local kennel club in puppy classes, as well as in conformation handling classes. When Adara was 5 months old, we started showing at our first dog shows, in the BPUP ring, at the Sandlapper GRC Specialty and then the Atlanta GRC Specialty. My love for the conformation show ring quickly grew and has become such an amazing part of my life. I have also grown to love so many other sports too, like FastCat, Barnhunt, Obedience, Rally, etc.  At this time we have not trialed in Obedience or Rally, but we have been taking classes at our kennel club to prepare for her Beginner Novice and her Companion Dog titles one day in the near future.

On March 17, 2022, we got Nava from Laura Kling with Laurell Goldens. Nava will be 24 months old on 12/09/2023 and I have really enjoyed playing in the ring with this sweet girl. I look so forward to what the future will bring and to see how my dream may impact others in the future.

My History with Golden Retrievers

My love for Golden Retrievers began at least 30 years ago and during this time they are the only dog breed that I have owned.  Goldens are an absolute passion for me.  I love them with all my heart and I want to help the breed from both sides of the equation; as a volunteer for a Golden Retriever Rescue and by responsibly breeding well-bred Golden Retrievers.  If someone is searching for a puppy from a responsible or reputable breeder, with a little education into what to look for, they discover that this country is filled with "backyard breeders" and puppy mills.  One of the main reasons why, is because most responsible/reputable breeders have really long waiting lists and cannot fulfill the demand of puppy buyers, so sadly, buyers get impatient and go to breeders that have puppies available or they look for a lower price.  There are two main problems with this: Firstly, it supports these irresponsible breeders, driving up more demand so they breed even more.  Secondly, most of these breeders do not get the recommended testing on their Goldens prior to breeding, potentially adding more Goldens into the gene pool with potential health issues, that the testing is in place to try to prevent.  These breeders have one agenda, to make money, and they really do not care if they are producing puppies with disabilities, heart or eye issues, or genetic diseases.  I personally will lose money, before breeding a Golden Retriever that does not have proper clearances.  See my page on OFA & Genetic Testing to see what clearances that you can expect to find on all of our Goldens prior to being bred.
